AI at 3,000-person scale: How Sisk does it

In this episode, we sit down with Charlie Corcoran, Head of Technology, Architecture and Data at Sisk, to explore how a traditional construction business is successfully implementing AI at scale across thousands of employees and complex job sites.

From triaging safety reports on sites with 3,000+ workers to analysing user behaviour with AI-powered tools, Charlie reveals the strategies, challenges, and honest truths about measuring AI's real-world impact.

What struck us most? The focus on people, not technology.
Charlie's approach puts humans at the centre of every AI decision - which perhaps explains why Sisk has just been named one of Ireland's Happiest Places to Work 2026. A company that implements AI with its people, not at them.

It's too late for 2026 predictions....

So instead here are our intentions for the business for this year.

🧠Number 1: Agents

Build more agents throughout the business - we already have some running in Marketing; by year end I want to see several in other departments as well. This will be helped by Cowork from Anthropic which beta launched last week in the Max plan and we can expect it to come to regular Pro users soon.

Since February last year, everyone's been raving about Claude Code, but the clue is in the name; you kinda need to be able to code. I tried it to create a strategy doc and the results were super impressive. We still had an in-person strategy day which was a lot of fun, but I was able to take the outcomes and literally 10x them into a super coherent plan thanks to Claude Code.

The very next day Cowork dropped, and that is going to change everything. 🀯

Cowork is Claude Code for non-techies. It runs locally on your mac (currently only for mac users), it can browse your logged-in services, edit your files, and do things with them. You can kick off multiple tasks, let them run in parallel, and check back when they’re done. It’s designed for saying β€œdo this and do that” and then coming back later to review the results.

⌨️Number 2: Write all my own LinkedIn posts

It's not just long dashes and giveaway words (like delve... did you know that delve proliferates on AI because most of the training for the models was done in Nigeria and delve is commonly used in Nigerian English?) - but there is also a certain sentence structure that I see again and again, and i just don't want to be a part of it.

I believe that the best communication is going to be raw, human, maybe a little less polished, as far from shiny Instagram-land as you could imagine.

I'm not saying I'll be sharing videos without a boofy blowdry, but I am taking the small step of writing all LinkedIn posts myself - just like the old days!

✨ Number 3: Do more with our meeting recordings

There's so much knowledge in there! Think of all the conversations and insights that are sitting there - the threads, the possibilities for new services and ways we do things - and all we have been doing it summarising action points.

So that's our building in public post to kick start the year.

What are your intentions?

Hi Reader! An architect friend asked me something over coffee a few weeks ago and I still haven't managed to put it down. If AI halves the hours she spends on a project, does that saving go back to the client? Or are they paying her for the skill? She's well ahead of most in her use of AI, she's just asking the uncomfortable question: the better she gets, does that mean invoicing less? Or does it mean invoicing more - more clients, and a premium for being the practice that delivers faster?...

compression burnout is a thing

Hi Reader! Someone asked me to ring them back in half an hour last Friday. So I did a few small jobs first, felt the time was up, reached for the phone, and only fifteen minutes had passed. Half an hour's work done in fifteen, and my body clock was still reading thirty. This is time being compressed. Funny at the time. Less funny by Sunday, once I'd added it to the tiredness, the short fuse and the broken sleep and realised I was closer to burnout than I'd like to admit. Not there yet. Caught...

Hello Reader! By the end of four Tuesday mornings you will be drafting client reports from raw meeting notes in minutes, and you will know exactly what you can and cannot put into an AI tool without creating a problem for yourself. That is what Core AI Skills is for. The autumn cohort starts on Tuesday 15 September. Most people arrive a little nervous. That is normal, and it tends to be the ones who arrive nervous who get the most out of it. What you leave able to do Turn raw notes and...
